Seed Program

($40 = 40kgs)

Seed program is changing the lives of families in northern Uganda by empowering women and enabling them to provide for their families. For a small donation of $ 40 a woman is provided with a 40kg loan of seeds such as maize, soya, ground nuts as well as hand held gardening tool, educational workshops and access to saving groups. A 40kg seed loan can harvest a yield of approximately 2,000kgs. Women in Uganda are caretakers for their families.

Seed program empowers women to re-invest their earnings into food, education and health care. They also have access to savings and loan groups which enable them to borrow money for emergencies. The women then give back their seed loan at the end of their first harvest so it can be passed on to another like her making it a sustainable project while reaching more communities. Within 12 months, your small $ 40 gift will have enabled a woman release her family from poverty and hunger.

We place the farmer first

It’s a bitter irony that majority of the world’s hungriest people are farmers. More than 50m smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa are locked in a cycle of hunger because they are unable to grow enough food to feed their families.

Malnutrition can have serious lifelong effects especially for children, robbing them of their potential as they grow up. The challenges presented by hunger and poverty are huge, but not insurmountable. Modern techniques have allowed farmers around the world to unlock giant gains in crop yields. Climaxx MFI and CHILD, NGO are delivering proven tools to smallholders in remote areas of Northern Uganda where yields and access to finance have lagged behind.

Prosperous farmers, prosperous communities.

When farmers prosper, their communities prosper too. Children will have more food to eat, attend school more often and have better performances. They are also healthier and are less likely to suffer from stunting and other developmental delays. When farmers have extra income, they invest it in education, they build businesses in their communities and they help neighbors in need. And when they practice sustainable farming techniques, the environment around them benefits as well, so that future generations can continue to grow nutritious food from the land.

Seed Loans – farmers receive high quality seeds and fertilizers on credit and we offer flexible repayment system that allows them to pay back their loans in any amount throughout the loan term.

Delivery – we deliver inputs to locations within walking distance of every farmer we serve.

Training – farmers receive training throughout the season on modern agricultural techniques. Market facilitation; we offer crop storage solutions and teach farmers about market fluctuations so that they can time crop sales to maximize profits. Every link in this chain is important. If one is missing, then the others won’t have as much impact. Climaxx MFI and CHILD provide all of these services together enabling farmers to significantly increase their incomes and build paths to prosperity.
